Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

1 Open System Settings

Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen and select System Settings.

2 Navigate to VPN Configuration

Navigate through the following menu path to add a new VPN configuration:

Network → Menu ... → Add VPN Configuration → IKEv2

3 Enter Display Name

In the Display Name field, enter a descriptive name for your VPN connection, such as "PremierVPN NY" or "My PremierVPN".

4 Configure Server Address

In the Server Address field, enter one of the PremierVPN IKEv2 hostnames. For this example, we'll use: ny2.premiervpn.net

Available PremierVPN Servers:

uk1.premiervpn.net - UK

ny1.premiervpn.net - New York

ny2.premiervpn.net - New York

jp1.premiervpn.net - Japan

sk1.premiervpn.net - South Korea

sw1.premiervpn.net - Sweden

pl1.premiervpn.net - Poland

de1.premiervpn.net - Germany

mx1.premiervpn.net - Mexico

au1.premiervpn.net - Australia

sf1.premiervpn.net - San Francisco

ca1.premiervpn.net - Canada

fr1.premiervpn.net - France

in1.premiervpn.net - India

nl1.premiervpn.net - Netherlands

sg1.premiervpn.net - Singapore

5 Set Remote ID

In the Remote ID field, enter the same hostname as the server address. Using our example: ny2.premiervpn.net

Note: The Remote ID must match exactly with the Server Address for IKEv2 connections to work properly.

6 Select Authentication Method

In the User Authentication menu, select the option Username.

7 Enter Your Username

In the Username field, enter the VPN username from your Activation Email. This is normally your email address.

8 Enter Your Password

In the Password field, enter the VPN password from your Activation Email.

Important: This VPN password is separate from your billing password and can be found in your PremierVPN Activation Email.

9 Create the Configuration

Click the Create button to save your VPN configuration.

10 Connect to Your VPN

Your VPN connection is now configured. To connect to the VPN:

1. Click VPN & Filters in the Network settings
2. Slide the button to the right next to your VPN connection to Connect

Success! When connected, you should see "Connected" status and the VPN toggle will be in the "on" position.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble connecting to your IKEv2 VPN, try the following solutions:

• Verify Configuration: Ensure you have entered the correct server address, username, and password
• Check Server Status: Make sure that your VPN server is online and accepting connections
• Restart System: Try restarting your Mac
• Contact Support: If you are still having trouble, contact us for assistance

Common macOS VPN Issues

Authentication Failed

Solutions:

• Verify your username and password from your Activation Email
• Ensure you're using the VPN password, not your billing password
• Check for any extra spaces or special characters
• Try copying and pasting credentials directly from the email

Connection Timeout or Failure

Solutions:

• Try connecting to a different PremierVPN server
• Check if your firewall is blocking the connection
• Verify that the Remote ID exactly matches the Server Address
• Ensure you have a stable internet connection

Frequent Disconnections

Solutions:

• Try connecting to a server closer to your location
• Check your internet connection stability
• Disable "Connect On Demand" if enabled and causing issues
• Restart your network interface (turn WiFi off and on)

Can't Access Internet After Connecting

Solutions:

• Disconnect and reconnect the VPN
• Check DNS settings in System Preferences → Network
• Try using different DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1)
• Reset network settings if necessary
