It is straightforward to import an OpenVPN configuration and connect to it using a username and password through the GLi router interface. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

  1. Access the GLi Router Interface:

    • Connect your router or computer to the GLi router.
    • Connect to the GLi Wifi.
    • Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address in the address bar. The default IP address is usually 192.168.8.1.
    • Enter the router's login credentials when prompted. The default password is "goodlife"; if you receive this router from PremierVPN, the password will be premiervpn.

  2. Import OpenVPN Configuration:

    • Navigate to the "VPN" menu and select "OpenVPN Client."
    • Click the "+ Add a New OpenVPN Configuration" button.
    • Either drag and drop the OpenVPN configuration file (.ovpn) or click the "Browse" button to select the file from your computer. You can get those here.

  1. Configure Authentication Settings:

    • Enter a descriptive name for the OpenVPN configuration file, such as "PremierVPN UK".
    • Enter your PremierVPN username in the "Username" field. Usually your email address.
    • Enter your PremierVPN password in the "Password" field. It is contained in your VPN Activation Email.
    • Click the "Submit" button to save the configuration.

  2. Connect to VPN Server:

    • Click the "Connect" button to establish the VPN connection.

  3. Verify VPN Connection:

    • Once the connection is established, you will see a red "Disconnect" button and status indicating the VPN-assigned IP and traffic moving in/out.
    • You can also check your IP address to verify it has changed to the VPN server's IP address here.
    • To disconnect from the VPN server, simply click the "Disconnect" button.

  4. Enable the Kill Switch:

    • Click "Internet Kill Switch" under the VPN menu to access the kill switch.
    • Move the slider to the right to activate the kill switch
    • Click Apply on the top right-hand corner to apply these changes.
